Bronx rapper Rod Rhaspy’s latest Album “Two Sides To A Story” or more accurately “TwowT SidesediS ToT A StoryrotS”, is a monumental nod to Rhaspy’s creativity and discipline. The Bronx rapper who also plays 5 instruments (piano, drums, bass, guitar, trumpet) started releasing his music on SoundCloud in 2013 and is known for his rock vocal harmonies, dynamic delivery and his willingness to experiment with new sounds. His previous projects include his album Diario, which features the melodic duet with rapper Smoke Dza; “Lyfted In A Lyft“, Mixtapes: The N.I.L., sLeeP when you die and Dyslexic raDio. Additionally, the artist moonlights as a music producer under his moniker “SKITZO“.
Rhaspy’s latest release which cleverly went live on the “mirrored numeral” date of 11.11.22; is a perfect example of why he is an exciting voice and talent in emerging hip-hop. The album is a 22-track, “double-sided” album with a unique concept: every 2 tracks uncovers a different perspective on a similar or opposing story over slight variations of the same beat. It’s an ambitious project, but Rhaspy is more than up to the task. He brings the same illustrative energy to every track. This is an album that demands repeated listening to get the clearest picture of the artist’s vision.
What happened at the Event?
As guests arrived inside the narrow path entrance of IMI studios, guests were greeted by a pleasant beverage handler who offered to snap a photo holding the featured beverage of the event, a gleaming red 750ml can of Tola Italian Cola & Wine. Beyond this point, guests are led onto a stairway and Into a theater-style room. The air in the space where the event was held; felt like good vibes and smelled of sweet za; which was reminiscent of the other main attraction of the evening, the load of Raw paper goodie bags that were complimentary to the attendees.
Positioned in the center of the room alongside his much smaller and felted, but more theatric puppet co-star, the Rhaspy “twins” screened the “Muppet” music video for “See You Soon” and delivered a colorful performance and summary of the album’s inspiration.
